Mortgage Rates Drop to 2011 Lows

Posted on: May 31, 2011

For those of you thinking about buying or refinancing…

Rates have fallen for 6 weeks in a row! On Thursday, Freddie Mac reported the average rate on a 30-year loan fell to 4.60% from 4.61%… the lowest point since mid-December. Also, the popular refinance option, a 15-year fixed mortgage, fell to 3.78% from 3.80%… the lowest point since late November. These numbers are down from 4.84% (30-year fixed) and 4.21% (15-year fixed) from a year earlier. Note, these rates do not include points.  One point is equal to 1% of the total loan amount. The average fee for the 30-year fixed and the 15-year fixed was 0.7 point.
