Is it Wrong to Love Your Trash Can?

Posted on: December 2, 2011

Yes, I know it sounds crazy (even to me!) but I am in love with my new trash can.

Let me back up a bit.  I live in a charming home by the beach, and by charming I mean in need of a teeny tiny little bit of updating in areas like the kitchen.  When I visit the new model homes I truly covet those lovely kitchens . . . one day I will get around to having mine replaced.  In the meantime there are some features, like a pull out trash can, that I have to do without.

In my quest for a perfect, or even functioning, free standing version I have been through more trash cans then I can count on both hands (and feet)!  I have tried every style and spent more and more money with each replacement.  Still I refused to pay the big bucks and buy the granddaddy of all trash cans . . . a Simple Human.  How in the world could I justify spending almost $200 for something to hold my garbage?

After I dragged my last can to the curb and left it there to die, I marched right back in to the house, got on the internet and ordered a beautiful new Simple Human.  Let me tell you people, my review is this . . . get off your wallet, get on Amazon and order yourself one of these as fast you can.  I chose a step can and I love how the lid just floats back down without slamming.  The bag always stays in place until I take it out and changing out the bags is . . . well, simple!  It is definitely love!

I hope everyone is geared up for a wonderful December and if I can share a little story . . . we are taking our kids to Disney World for my daughter’s birthday and I asked her if she was excited about going to the happiest place on earth.  She looked right at me and said “Momma, our house is the happiest place on earth”.  That pretty much made my year and I hope it brings a smile to your face too.  Home truly is where the heart is.
