Brevard Zoo on Wickham Road in Melbourne, Florida is one of Brevard County’s top attractions. Ranked among the Top 10 Zoos in the nation, Brevard Zoo is home to about 575 animals representing 165 species from North and South America, Africa, and Australia. Brevard Zoo is known for its natural habitats and exhibits that blend into the surroundings, helping visitors feel like they are getting closer to nature and closer to the animals.

During the month of October, the Brevard Zoo hosts its annual “Boo at the Zoo” event, with fun events and activities for every member of the family. Tons of great Halloween-themed events are offered every night during “Boo at the Zoo”. One of the more popular events includes the costume contest, which is held every night at 6:30 pm, with categories for different age groups: age 2 and under, age 3 – Kindergarten, Grades 1 – 3, Grades 4 -6, and a separate category for Family-Themed costumes. First, second, and third place prizes are awarded nightly in each category. Also very popular at “Boo at the Zoo” is the Trick-or-Treat trail, which includes over 25 treat stations around the Zoo, sponsored by local businesses and organizations. Don’t miss the Haunted Trail, which is sure to scare, and recommended for children ages 10 and over. The younger crowd has plenty to enjoy, including the Boo Choo train ride, live entertainment by Zoola Entertainment in front of the Paws On exhibit, and a special play area with crafts and games in the Nyami Nyami River Lodge. New this year to “Boo at the Zoo” is Professor Wormwood’s Poison Garden, featuring 10 deadly plant species tucked neatly into a lush, beautiful garden. Other “Boo at the Zoo” attractions include the witch’s lair, along with some of the Zoo’s animals on display. The Cafe will be open during the event, in addition to the special food and drink stations that will be set up throughout the Zoo.

Brevard Zoo’s “Boo at the Zoo” is a really popular Halloween event in Brevard County. “Boo at the Zoo” will run for nine nights this year – starting tonight, October. 12th and running through the weekend until Sunday, October 14th, then again Friday, October 19th – Sunday, October 21st, and finally Friday, October 26th – Sunday, October 28th. The event runs from 5:30 pm – 9:30 pm nightly, with the last admission at 8:00 pm. Ticket prices vary, depending on which night you attend, with the first Friday and Sunday costing $8 per person and the second and third Fridays and Sundays costing $10. Each Saturday costs $12 to enter.  Zoo members pay just $5 on Fridays only. Children under 2 are admitted for free.

As admission lines get pretty long for “Boo at the Zoo”, customers are encouraged to purchase tickets in advance online at If you purchase two or more tickets (online only!), you receive a discount.
